The Science Fair is held from 7 to 15 October 2017 in Poitiers and Grand Poitiers. It mobilizes for one week the enthusiasts of sciences, researchers, technicians, engineers, laboratory, professionals and amateurs, etc. to meet all the public and make better know the research and its trades.
Manipulate, test, visit, dialogue with researchers and discover the professions of research. The Science Fair , thousands of free animations, all over France. On this occasion, science invests public places and researchers come to meet you.

In Poitiers, several events will take place within the Espace Mendès France :

- Doctors, medicines
This exhibition offers an introduction to the history of medicine from antiquity to the present day. It makes us discover the universe of doctors, their inventions and their difficulties throughout the centuries.

- The Planetarium in Celebration
The planetarium will be open for free to take you to the magical world of the stars.

Come and discover the constellations under the vault of the planetarium: an hour of travel in the Universe.

- Antikythera machine, weather balloons
You will be able to manipulate the Anticathera machine and see how it works, as well as the nacelle of the stratospheric balloon, and to vary the sensors.A real-time video will display the sensor data as curves.

- Cells under the eye of the researcher, discovery trail in the laboratory
Organized by the École de l'ADN Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the UP Image Platform and the STIM laboratory of the University of Poitiers. This is a journey carried out with the support of Olympus, which offers a complete fluorescence imaging system for this event. Cells are "living" organisms, they move according to their function to transmit a force, communicate ... and move! We propose a laboratory immersion with different microscopic approaches, including fluorescence observations, to discover all the plasticity and the mobility of the cells. For youngsters, fun corner with puzzles and 3D images, to discover otherwise the world of cells.

- Demonstration of a 3D printer
Come and see how a real 3D printer works. A facilitator explains the steps involved in making an object.

- The gears are rolling!
The children become familiar with the construction and the movement, thanks to gears and observe the effects of rotation of these notched wheels.

- The Egg of Icarus
Each participant is given an egg for which he must build a protective envelope as strong as possible before releasing it from a height of 3 meters.

- Chemistry at home
The kitchen is the ideal place to start to take an interest in chemistry. Numerous simple and playful experiments are possible.

- Balbuciné

Workshop-show that decrypts the luminous phenomena that surround us during a festival: spots, strobes, smoke, faceted ball, fluorescent light ... A workshop for the pleasure of the eyes.

- When music and archeology come together!
Organized by the Rauranum Museum of Rom. The evening will alternate musical selections and mini-conferences on medicine in antiquity. The musicians will present a repertoire in connection with medicine or body, with a moment dedicated to the wandering within the sanctuary of Asclepius, god Medicine, in Epidaurus in Greece. What is a geoscience laboratory at the University of Poitiers?
Organized by the PhD students of the laboratory. Reservations are required on 05 49 45 37 02. Visit the laboratory and associated workshops to discover Earth Sciences research. First, a technical visit of the premises and, in a second stage, a discovery session around various workshops such as the discovery of tools used by geologists (geological maps, drilling cores ...), playful experiments (fluorescent rocks, model of hydrogeology possibly) or to wonder about the composition of mineral waters.

The day of the night 2017
Organized by Grand Poitiers Urban Community in partnership with the City of Buxerolles, CPIE of Lathus, Sorégies, Espace Mendès France and Astronomie Nova. In order to sensitize the public and the public authorities on this issue, several municipalities were invited to complete or partially extinguish their public lighting on the evening of the event. Grand Poitiers invites you to come and enjoy a lively night stroll in the town of Buxerolles which will have switched off its lights on this occasion.
