Hikes and walks in Poitiers

For walking or cycling fans, the City-Nature Circuit offers you no less than 400 km of signposted trails.
Explore the natural and architectural treasures of the 12 districts. Admire the cliffs of Beauvoir, the dry valleys of Buxerolles and the old village of Saint-Benoît. A handy paperback topographical guide presents 23 hiking loops. 4 km on foot or 24 km for the hardiest, the choice is yours. A heat wave? Head off to the canoe-kayak base of Saint-Benoît where you can also enjoy a unique view of the valley of the Clain with a group of friends or the family.

Highly diversified flora and fauna, hidden gardens, old mills: over 100 km of banks to explore along the river Clain. On the Pasteur walk, learn about the secrets of plants and gardeners in the Jardin des Sens (Garden of the Senses).

Then continue your ramble past the statue of Notre-Dame-des-Dunes along the Rue des Quatre Roues. Another path will take you near the Hôpital des Champs. Follow the course of the river Boivre along the signposted Route de la Cassette which starts at the SNCF rail station. These paths are laid out to allow access for the sight-impaired and people with reduced mobility.
