LE JARDIN DE LA PETITE VILLETTE

Boulevard de l'Abbé Frémont - 86000 POITIERS

This little green space, furnished with benches, bordering the left bank of the Clain. We still see significant remains of the old castle military - probably built by King Philip Augustus in the early thirteenth century - transformed into a stately home by Jean de Berry in 1380 and dismantled from the wars of religion ( sixteenth century).

Near the center of the large roundabout commonly called "Porte de Paris," still another evidence of the city's defensive elements of the past: the tower belongs Cordier, in turn, the vast city walls built by Eleanor and Henry Plantagenet and from the 1160s.

Ideal for enjoying the charms of the waterfront, garden Petite Villette can also be a welcome stop for visitors who wish to make a small difference after their discovery of the Saint-Jean-de-Montierneuf.
