Place Maréchal Leclerc - 86000 POITIERS
XXI century - Yves Lion
Mentioned as early as 1058, the place has had several names throughout the centuries: instead of "old-Market" in the Middle Ages, 'Royal Square' in the seventeenth century, "Place d'Armes" in the nineteenth century. Symbol of Poitiers identity, it is the focal point of the urban redevelopment (2010-2012) that enabled the development of public buildings (XIX-XX century) particularly the town hall and the surrounding rich heritage.
